Join us for this informative and revealing journey of how a gathering of persons in a sect called "The Followers of the Way" evolved into the largest religion in the world with a present following of about 2.5 billion located on every corner. It is truly a story of a body with diverse denominations has agreed to disagree and thereby remain as a solid bloc of adherents albeit with varying orientations and practices. This study invites us to consider our faith in a fresh, new way, informed by common sense, positive tradition and personal experience. It continually asks us to reflect on who or what God is, what is our relationship with this Divine Being, and then invites us to come to our own conclusions of our own self-identity based on our on-going reflection. This course will take us on journey beginning with the oral transmission of fragments, ancient myths and stories that became the nucleus of the Hebrew Scriptures when its codification was first envisaged during the Babylonian exile of the Judean scholars and religious leaders in 6th BCE. This continued until its canon was finalized at some point in 1st CE in response to the emergence of a sect called “The Followers of the Way”. This group morphed into the religion of Christianity. Our main focus will be the impact of historical economic, social, political and technological on the content and orientation of the Christian religion since its birth to the present situation in the 21st century. This 10-week course explores Christianity and related scriptures. Participants will examine (a) the formation and adoption of the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Scriptures, and (b) the Slave Bible and the Rasta Bible.

This ten-week course is designed to explore twelve recognized religions categorized as Ancient Religion, Eastern Religion, or Abrahamic Religion.
