This course will take us on journey beginning with the oral transmission of fragments, ancient myths and stories that became the nucleus of the Hebrew Scriptures when its codification was first envisaged during the Babylonian exile of the Judean scholars and religious leaders in 6th BCE. This continued until its canon was finalized at some point in 1st CE in response to the emergence of a sect called “The Followers of the Way”. This group morphed into the religion of Christianity. Our main focus will be the impact of historical economic, social, political and technological on the content and orientation of the Christian religion since its birth to the present situation in the 21st century.
