The Academy For The Study Of Religion (ASR) was launched in January 2018.
ASR's aim is:
“to seek to advance the understanding of the links across religion, economy, and society. ASR provides an open platform dedicated to facilitating easy access to education, learning and study of religion, faiths and belief systems that exist throughout the world, and understanding how these systems are interwoven in the fabric of many social norms, values, attitudes, behaviours and habits among various groups.”
OBJECTIVES
To present the class material from an academic and historical perspective that is articulated with references from credible sources.
To provide adequate time for group discussion, a question and answer segment and individual evaluation.
To ensure adherence to the standards established by the Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (J-TEC) for certification and subsequently for accreditation by the University Council of Jamaica.
